My Approach to Healing & Growth
Collaborative, Integrated, and Depth-Oriented
My therapeutic work is rooted in Solution-Focused Narrative Therapy (SFNT). This approach is built on the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Rather than dwelling extensively on problems or the past, we collaboratively focus on your strengths, resources, and what's already working, even in the smallest ways. We identify your desired future and map out the steps to get there.
How Solution-Focused Narrative Therapy Works:
In SFNT, we explore:
Your unique strengths and capabilities: Often, you possess more resources than you realize.
Past successes and exceptions: Times when the problem wasn't present or was less severe.
Your preferred future: What does a fulfilling life or relationship look like to you?
New narratives: We work to re-author stories about yourself and your relationships, moving away from problem-saturated descriptions towards those that highlight resilience, hope, and progress.
An Integrated & Informed Practice
My approach is eclectic, meaning I thoughtfully draw from various effective modalities to best suit your unique needs. While SFNT provides the core framework for our sessions, my practice is deeply trauma-informed and addiction-informed. This ensures I approach every client with an understanding of how past experiences and specific challenges like addiction can impact current struggles, creating a safe space that supports authentic healing without judgment.
Given my spiritual background, I also incorporate principles of depth psychology when appropriate. This allows us to explore deeper, often unconscious, aspects of your experience, understanding how archetypes, symbols, and dreams might influence your current path and ultimately guide you toward greater self-awareness and wholeness.
To provide comprehensive and effective support, I also utilize interventions from other highly effective modalities:
Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT): I incorporate many EFT interventions, particularly when working with relational and spiritual pain. This helps us explore and reshape core emotional experiences and attachment needs, fostering deeper connection and repair between partners and family members.
Gottman Method: For couples seeking to build stronger relationships, I sometimes integrate practical interventions from the Gottman Method. This can help improve communication skills, manage conflict constructively, and enhance friendship and intimacy.
My Goal for You
My goal is to empower you to discover your inherent capacity for change, develop clear steps forward, and create a narrative for your life that is full of hope and possibility. Whether you're navigating complex relational challenges, seeking to overcome an addiction, healing from past trauma, or building a more meaningful future, my integrated approach is designed to meet you where you are and guide you toward lasting growth.
